Walleyes on fire!

Walleyes on fire!

The walleye bite on pool 9 has been hotter than a June bride since this month began with fish responding to a number of presentations. Water temp is in the mid-70s. River level is at low summer pool. Visibility 12-18″

Willowcats are by far the best bait. But fish are also responding to cranks trolled @ 1.8-2.2 mph upstream in 7-13 fow, crawlers on 1/8 oz B-Fish-N tackle gold Draggin’ jigs at the same depth contour and anomalies on both wingdams and closing dams

Other species are probably active, too,It’s smart to go after what the River wants to give up. For the past 2 weeks this has been walleyes. Fished for channel cats a few hours one day last week. More like going catching than going fishing.

The only problem with the ‘eyes is, at least 1/2 are too big to keep! Lots of 20-25″ fish in the system now.

I won’t fish Saturdays. Too many folks out there. Yesterday afternoon there were 36 rigs @ Army road boat launch. Most will be gone by late afternoon Sunday. Might just sneak out for a little fun fishin’…
